Mammoth Brands to Acquire Premium Baby Care Company Coterie

Mammoth Brands, a prominent entity with a diverse portfolio including Harry's, Flamingo, Lume, and Mando, has formalized an agreement to integrate Coterie, a distinguished premium baby care company, into its operations. This strategic acquisition underscores Mammoth's ambition to significantly broaden its market reach beyond its established personal care lines, venturing into the burgeoning baby care industry with Coterie's acclaimed high-performance diapers and wipes.

Established in 2019, Coterie has rapidly carved out a niche in the premium baby care sector, cultivating a robust and profitable direct-to-consumer business model. The brand's success is evidenced by its impressive sales figures, having distributed more than 700 million diapers and achieving net revenues exceeding US$200 million in the past year alone. This represents a substantial 60% year-on-year increase, highlighting Coterie's strong market performance and consumer appeal. Furthermore, Coterie holds the highest Net Promoter Score within its category, a testament to its exceptional customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. The leadership of Coterie, under CEO Jess Frenchman Jacobs and President Grace Weingard, will maintain its autonomy, continuing to operate independently post-acquisition, ensuring the brand's unique identity and operational efficacy are preserved.

This transaction marks the second significant acquisition for Mammoth Brands through its mergers and acquisitions division, Mammoth Labs, following its successful purchase of Lume in 2021. The integration of Coterie into Mammoth's holdings is a calculated step to deepen its presence within the personal care market by tapping into the lucrative US$12 billion U.S. baby care segment. The move is expected to leverage Mammoth's extensive omnichannel expertise, facilitating Coterie's scaling and reinforcing Mammoth's competitive standing in the rapidly expanding premium baby care category. Subject to customary regulatory approvals, the acquisition is projected to reach its completion by the close of 2025.

The strategic rationale behind this acquisition is clear: Mammoth Brands seeks to enhance its diversified brand ecosystem by incorporating Coterie's premium offerings. This not only expands Mammoth's product categories but also strengthens its overall market position by adding a high-growth, high-profit segment. By integrating Coterie, Mammoth aims to capitalize on cross-promotional opportunities and operational synergies, further solidifying its presence across various consumer goods sectors.
