Erdem's Latest Collection: Blurring the Lines of Femininity with Homidi and Cofone's Artistic Touch
Embrace the Multifaceted: Where History Meets Modern Beauty
Exploring the Essence of Femininity Through Design
On the eve of London Fashion Week's conclusion, Erdem Moralıoğlu unveiled a collection deeply rooted in the exploration of diverse identities. Drawing inspiration from Hélène Smith, a notable 19th-century Swiss figure celebrated for her automatic writing and imaginative spirit, Moralıoğlu's designs articulate the various dimensions of womanhood. This collection portrays femininity as a dynamic and unconstrained force, rejecting singular definitions.
The Art of Makeup: Homidi's Vision of Timeless Beauty
Fara Homidi, the acclaimed lead make-up artist, devised beauty looks that echoed the collection's ethereal and adaptable themes. Homidi noted Moralıoğlu's keen appreciation for intricate details, which informed her goal of crafting a wearable aesthetic that also transported observers to a bygone era. Her creative process drew from historical icons such as Joan of Arc and literary works like 'Anna Karenina', influencing the striking brows and porcelain-like complexions seen on the models.
Crafting the Canvas: Flawless Skin and Ethereal Glow
Homidi's team meticulously applied her Essential Face Compact, subtly enhancing the models' eyes, noses, and chins without masking their natural beauty. The deliberate choice to avoid heavy coverage maintained a fresh, luminous base. Eyelids were given a 'greasy', lustrous finish using an upcoming product and the Essential Bronzer Compact, which was also sparingly applied to cheekbones on selected models, imparting a delicate, rust-toned radiance. This technique harmonized with the distinct characters embodied by each garment.
Lip Artistry: Boldness and Blurry Edges
Lips emerged as a prominent feature, designed to appear 'spontaneous, imprecise, full, and soft-focused.' Homidi utilized pink or red shades from her Essential Lip Compact, specifically 'Red 1' and 'Holiday 1', gently tapping the color onto the lips with a soft brush. A nuanced outline was then added using the Smudge & Contour Lip Pencil in Faun and Bruni. The application concentrated color at the center, allowing it to gradually soften towards the edges, creating a captivating gradient.
Hair as an Expression: Cofone's Natural Movement
Anna Cofone, a renowned hairstylist and Global Creative Advocate for Authentic Beauty Concept, collaborated closely with Erdem to introduce 'airy, pliable textures' to the hair. Her approach centered on accentuating each model's innate hair texture, infusing the styles with natural movement and vitality.
Achieving the Perfect Matte Texture and Effortless Hold
The desired look featured matte, lived-in hair. Cofone strategically applied Authentic Beauty Concept's Nymph Salt Spray at the roots and the Flawless Primer through the mid-lengths and ends to achieve distinct separation. A custom blend of Pliable Styling Paste, Hand & Hair Light Cream, and Hydrate Lotion was then used to provide a secure hold while imparting a subtle, glossy finish.
Inspired Freedom: Hair Reflecting Independence
Drawing inspiration from the Australian mystery film 'Picnic at Hanging Rock', Cofone's hairstyles conveyed a strong sense of autonomy and liberty. The resulting aesthetic was raw and dynamic, allowing each strand to move freely, beautifully framing the garments as they graced the runway.
