e.l.f. Beauty Adjusts Strategies Amid Market Challenges
e.l.f. Beauty’s shares fell over 20% in extended trading after the company revised its annual sales and profit forecasts downward due to weakening demand in the mass beauty market. The new sales forecast ranges from US$1.30 billion to US$1.31 billion, down from the previous estimate of up to US$1.335 billion. Profit expectations were also reduced. CEO Tarang Amin cited softer demand in January and slower product launches, partly influenced by economic and political uncertainties affecting Gen Z consumers. Additionally, a 10% tariff on Chinese imports may necessitate price hikes, as 80% of e.l.f.’s products are made there. Despite these challenges, Q3 sales grew 31% to US$355.32 million, surpassing analyst expectations.
