Despite a slight decline in comparable sales during the final quarter of 2024, Macy's Inc showcased resilience with its best overall performance since early 2022. The company experienced a modest dip of 1.1 percent in owned basis sales for the last three months. However, this period also marked a significant milestone as Macy's achieved a growth rate of 0.2 percent across owned, licensed, and marketplace sales, signaling a positive trajectory.

Noteworthy achievements were observed at specific segments within the retail giant. The top-performing First 50 locations of Macy's recorded a 0.8 percent increase in fourth-quarter comparable sales. Meanwhile, luxury brands under the Macy's umbrella, such as Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury, excelled remarkably. Bloomingdale’s posted its highest-ever fourth-quarter growth of 6.2 percent in owned, licensed, and marketplace sales, while Bluemercury maintained its impressive streak with a consistent 6.2 percent rise over 16 consecutive quarters.

Tony Spring, chairman and CEO of Macy's Inc, highlighted the success of their strategic investments in enhancing customer experience. As the first year of the Bold New Chapter strategy concludes, these initiatives have propelled Macy's to achieve its strongest quarterly sales performance in nearly three years. With continued focus on scaling successful projects, the company aims to foster long-term profitable growth and maximize shareholder value, setting a robust foundation for future endeavors.
